International Astronomy Day – Lighting Inspiration
Interior design inspiration can come in many forms and with it being International Astronomy Day this gave us that spark of creativity to put together a stellar list lighting solutions. We think we have found something for everyone, so even on those cloudy nights when you cannot see the stars outside you can look up from the comfort of your sofa and be amazed.
Here are some of my favourites from the collection…
Timothy Oulton – Rosen Bridge Pendant

In 1935, Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen realised that general relativity allowed for the existence of “bridges”; cosmic shortcuts through the fabric of space and time. Inspired by the Einstein-Rosen bridge, or ‘wormhole’ as it became known, the Rosenbridge light celebrates interwoven cosmic frontiers.
Glass rods are held between rings of shiny steel, bouncing and refracting the light from a central glowing orb. Inner rings can pivot to your desired position, creating your own path through space. Buy Here

The Reflex Stella light couldn’t be more obvious where its inspiration derived from. Each hand-crafted pendant seemingly floating in mid air. From a single star shaped pendant to your own personal mini galaxy of hundreds, your options are limitless…much like space itself. Buy Here

Its shape loosely akin to the Apollo spacecraft, with its two-stage design the Apollo lights offer something a bit unique with clear lower spheres and a choice of polished colours for the upper. Combine multiple sets to create a stunning centrepiece to a room or drop them singularly above your night stands to create a real modern look. Buy Here.
Flos – Nebula

Joris Laarman, the designer of this stunning light said “This constellation of lampshades arose while playing and composing with many different sizes. I was struck by the strong image that appeared when I just combined them as a bunch. They emitted from a core like an explosion of light, like a star in the sky.” Buy Here.
Timothy Oulton – Neutron Pendant

Like a supernova captured in mid-explosion and then frozen in time, the Neutron pendant radiates a powerful yet serene energy.
The main light source comes from the glowing nucleus, travelling unseen to the ends of each of the 250 glass rods so that just the tips light up, like newly formed stars floating in the cosmos. Buy Here.
